The lines of research developed in the context of the Chair, linked to the primary theme of Global Citizenship Education, concern: political networks and practices; conceptualisation; the role of the body in educational dynamics and the transmission of values; civic education and the ways in which global citizenship education themes and approaches are integrated within educational institutions.
Global Civic Education. Transforming global citizenship education into practice through civic education (GloCivEd)
The UNESCO Chair in Global Citizenship Education is actively involved in the PRIN-2022 “Global Civic Education. Transforming global citizenship education into practice through civic education” (GloCivEd). The project, whose Principal Investigator is Prof. Massimiliano Tarozzi of the University of Bologna, aims to investigate the ways in which global citizenship education topics and approaches are integrated within school institutions and formal education using Civic Education as an entry point.
Project R-Educ- - "Regions for Global Citizenship Education: Models of Governance and Good Practices".
The UNESCO Chair in Global Citizenship Education is a partner in the R-Educ project, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and led by the Emilia-Romagna Region. The Chair, together with other partners, is involved in the design, implementation and realisation of an Advanced Training Course on Global Citizenship Education that will be addressed to civil servants and policy-makers.
changemakers for Climate Justice. Youth in action for climate justice
The UNESCO Chair in Global Citizenship Education is a partner in the project "Changemakers for Climate Justice. Youth in Action for Climate Justice", funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and led by We World Onlus, being involved both in research activities and in the design and implementation of a training course for secondary school teachers aimed at strengthening teachers' pedagogical practices.

The Chair contributes for Italy to the data collection and coordination of the Multilingual Global Education Digest which provides a reasoned bibliography of academic materials and research reports relevant in the field of global citizenship education.
WELL-BEING, BODY AND GCE
This line of research is divided into two areas: Global Citizenship Education and Sport; role of the body in the educational processes of global citizenship. The first area investigates how the promotion of motor practices in the school system can increase reflections on participation and equality. The second area focuses on the formation of citizenship processes with embodied approaches.
