The programme focused on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Global Citizenship Education (GCED) in the Mediterranean context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course was delivered in a <strong>blended format<\/strong>, combining an <strong>initial online phase <\/strong>with an i<strong>ntensive week in Tunis from 3 to 7 February<\/strong>. The online sessions introduced the main themes of the programme through seminars addressing sustainable development policies, the impacts of climate change on Mediterranean ecosystems, and the role of education in promoting sustainability and global citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The in-person week provided an opportunity for exchange and discussion among lecturers and participants from universities across the Mediterranean. The programme brought together scholars and researchers from different academic institutions, offering participants a<strong> valuable opportunity for interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge sharing across diverse academic and professional contexts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the key topics addressed were: the role of universities in promoting sustainability; strategies for the adaptation of coastal communities to climate change; sustainable resource and waste management; and the relationships between climate change, human mobility, and climate justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme concluded with participants\u2019 final presentations and a collective reflection on future perspectives for academic cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course was organised within the framework of the <strong>MARE \u2013 Mediterranean Alliance for Research and Education project<\/strong>, promoted by the <strong>University of Bologna<\/strong> and the <strong>University of Cagliari<\/strong>, in collaboration with the <strong>Institut Sup\u00e9rieur des Cadres de l\u2019Enfance (ISCE) \u2013 Universit\u00e9 de Carthage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative forms part of the <em>Transnational Education (TNE)<\/em> activities funded by the <em>Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) <\/em>under the <em>NextGenerationEU programme<\/em>, with the aim of strengthening academic cooperation and knowledge exchange among universities in the Mediterranean region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Special thanks go to all the lecturers, partners, and participants from universities in Tunisia and Algeria, whose contribution made this course an important opportunity for training, dialogue, and the development of new academic collaborations across the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div data-wp-interactive=\"core\/file\" class=\"wp-block-file\"><object data-wp-bind--hidden=\"!state.hasPdfPreview\" hidden class=\"wp-block-file__embed\" data=\"https:\/\/unescochairgced.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/TNE_MARE-Handbook-1.pdf\" type=\"application\/pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px\" aria-label=\"Embed of TNE_MARE Handbook.\"><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-5c00c2c3-22d9-4ae5-abf4-e27e8c77bb05\" href=\"https:\/\/unescochairgced.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/TNE_MARE-Handbook-1.pdf\">TNE_MARE Handbook<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/unescochairgced.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/TNE_MARE-Handbook-1.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-5c00c2c3-22d9-4ae5-abf4-e27e8c77bb05\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Advanced Skills Course \u201cAdvancing Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship in the Mediterranean Context: Resource Recovery and Environmental Challenges\u201d, organised within the TNE_MARE project, has concluded.
