INSIGHTS INTO GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP AND TEACHING OF CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES IN FINNISH UPPER SECONDARY VOCATIONAL EDUCATION

On Friday 29 September, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Room 2, Via Azzo Gardino 33, Bologna, Riikka Suhonen, visiting professor at the University of Helsinki, will give a seminar on the challenges that different forms of knowledge, information and disinformation from social media pose for critical global citizenship education.

A recent study conducted in Finnish vocational schools shows how the current focus on individual and professional skills limits teachers’ engagement in global citizenship education.

The lecture will be held in English and is open to the public, subject to availability.
