GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP SKILLS. A Study Trip to Tunisia
From 25 May to 1 June 2025, a group of students from the University of Bologna took part in a study trip to Tunisia, as part of the course Global Citizenship Skills. The course, offered as a cross-disciplinary master’s level programme, was designed within the activities of the UNESCO Chair in Global Citizenship Education at the University of Bologna.
The experience aimed to provide participants with a fieldwork opportunity to put into practice the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom.
Guided by Prof. Tarozzi, Dr. Quinto, and a representative of the NGO WeWorld, which co-organised the initiative, students visited Tunis and its surroundings, travelling as far as Testour, Bni M’Tir, and Kef.
Together with students from the University of Carthage and several local lecturers, participants explored key social issues and global perspectives from the southern shore of the Mediterranean, such as environmental sustainability, migration, and inequality.
The project also includes an exchange: in October, a group of Tunisian students, accompanied by three teachers, will visit the University of Bologna.
The initiative is part of the project “Teaching Global Citizenship Education at University: An Experiential Approach”, funded by the Italian Buddhist Institute – SOKA GAKKAI.
