Launch of “Teaching Global Citizenship Education”: A new open access volume for teachers and educators

We are delighted to announce the publication of the fourth volume in the “Koiné” Series, published by the Department for Life Quality Studies at the University of Bologna: “Teaching Global Citizenship Education”, edited by Massimiliano Tarozzi and Stefania Moser.
This volume is the result of the collective work of the research group of the UNESCO Chair in Global Citizenship Education in Higher Education and aims to fill a significant gap between the theoretical debate on GCED and its translation into concrete teaching practices in Italian schools.
What will you find in this volume?
“Teaching Global Citizenship Education” is not simply a handbook, but a collection of pedagogical stimuli and critical tools for rethinking the way we approach education. The contributions, born from the experience of researchers and professionals in the field, explore GCED as:
- A transformative pre-didactic approach, which re-signifies existing content.
- An experiential and intercorporeal practice, involving mind, body, and emotions.
- A cross-curricular and integrated perspective within the school curriculum.
Among the topics covered:
- The role of the body and Theatre of the Oppressed.
- Educating for shared futures.
- Museum education as a citizenship strategy.
- The link between Civic Education and GCED.
- Teacher training and examples from international contexts.
Why is this book an essential resource?
- For teachers of all levels: offers immediate operational ideas for daily teaching.
- For trainers and educators: provides a solid theoretical framework and innovative methodologies.
- For researchers and students: represents a timely update on the national and international pedagogical debate in the field of Global Citizenship Education.
