LUNCHTIME SEMINAR SERIES: “MARY WOLLSTONECRAFT”

We are delighted to invite you to the second seminar of 2025 in the “Lunchtime Seminar” series, hosted by the UNESCO Chair in Global Citizenship Education in Higher Education and the International Research Centre on Global Citizenship Education (IRC-GloCEd) at the University of Bologna.

Event details:
Date: April 29, 2025
Time: 1:00 – 2:15 PM (Italy time)
Venue: Aula VI, Via Zamboni 39, Bologna

This session will be dedicated to the pioneering thinker Mary Wollstonecraft and will feature Professor Serena Vantin (University of Bologna), who will present her latest publication, recently released by Carocci Editore.

The seminar will focus on Wollstonecraft as a trailblazer of feminist thought and a foundational voice in the articulation of human rights that transcend distinctions of gender and class. Professor Vantin’s work, concise yet rich in critical insight, offers a compelling portrait of a revolutionary thinker who, through her political and philosophical writings, laid the groundwork for understanding education as a prerequisite for the exercise and enjoyment of universal rights.

This event will provide a valuable opportunity to reflect on the contemporary relevance of Wollstonecraft’s thought, particularly in relation to Global Citizenship Education, conceived as a pathway to greater awareness and active participation in building a more just, inclusive, and sustainable society.

The seminar will be held in person
