Sustainability in a Global Perspective

2–3 March 2026
Sala VIII Centenario, Via Zamboni 33, 40126 Bologna

The Forum Sustainability in a Global Perspective aims to explore sustainability in its broadest sense through interdisciplinary dialogue and international collaboration.

The event will bring together scholars and researchers from Italy, the United States and Japan, creating a space for exchange among academic contexts united by a strong commitment to sustainability research.

Ten partner institutions have been invited to participate: six from the United States (Berkeley, Brown, Davis, Irvine, Rice, San Diego) and four from Japan (Ritsumeikan, Science Tokyo, Tsukuba, Waseda), alongside the University of Bologna.

Each participating institution conducts excellent research on sustainability, spanning diverse fields from environmental and engineering sciences to international affairs, from global health to cultural heritage, from economics to urban planning. This interdisciplinary framework reflects the complexity of sustainability challenges and the need for integrated and globally informed approaches.

The Forum seeks to foster dialogue across disciplines and national contexts, encouraging participants to share research perspectives, methodologies, and best practices. By connecting institutions across continents, the initiative aims to strengthen academic cooperation and contribute to the development of innovative responses to global sustainability challenges.
