Join us on Tuesday, 16 September at Aula Mondolfo (University of Bologna) for a seminar with Carlos Alberto Torres: “The Second Trump Administration & the Crisis of American Democracy.”

From 25 May to 1 June 2025, a group of students from the University of Bologna took part in a study trip to Tunisia, as part of the course Competences in Global Citizenship. The trip was funded by the Italian Buddhist Institute – SOKA GAKKAI.

On Friday, June 13th at 2:00 p.m. at the University of Bologna’s Department of Philosophy, took place the conference “Decolonising Schools: Educating Global Citizens Amidst Emerging Citizenship and Identity Challenges.”

On 29 April 2025, a meeting will be held in the auditorium of the Scuderie Aldobrandini Museum in Frascati to present the initiatives carried out at regional level as part of the R-EDUC project.

At 13:00 Italian time, Professor Vantin will present her latest work “Mary Wollstonecraft”, reflecting on the relevance and relevance of the British philosopher’s thought for global citizenship education.

The relationship with North African partners is increasingly at the core of our Chair’s inter-university strategic collaborations. This is the background to Massimiliano Tarozzi’s invitation to the international conference ‘Explorations et réflexions sur l’identité dans un monde en mutation’ organised in Tunisia by the University of Carthage.

The first special issue of Glocited collects the contributions developed following the training course organised by the Chair and UNIBO in the framework of the REDUC project and addressed to decision-makers and public officials from seven Italian regions.

As part of the transversal course “Global Citizenship Skills” taught by prof. The conference, which celebrates the recognition of the Portici di Bologna as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, aims to launch a discussion on the need to protect the historic urban landscape and to question the role of UNESCO sites. The aim of the two-day event is to identify common strategies to protect the urban heritage from the effects of challenges such as climate change or catastrophic events such as wars, but also ways to protect and enhance it in everyday life, promoting a sense of community and active participation of citizens in the care of their heritage.

On 8 May 2024, from 13.00 to 14.30, the third seminar in the series of Lunchtime Seminars organised by the UNESCO Chair in Global Citizenship Education in Higher Education, entitled “Promoting global citizenship in China: University English teachers’ dilemma and voices”, will be held in Bologna at the Celio Lecture Hall, via Zamboni 38. The author, Enze Guo from University College London, will present some reflections resulting from his research on the promotion of global citizenship in Chinese universities.

First event “The experiences of a correspondent in war zones. Meeting with journalist Azzurra Meringolo”
Organised by Prof. Alessandro Tolomelli, the seminar will take place on Monday 19 February from 13.00 at the Aule Belmeloro, via B. Andreatta 8, Bologna.

Marcella Milana, member of the Scientific Committee of the UNESCO Chair, will speak at a policy roundtable on ECGs at the European Parliament on 16 November. The event will be broadcast live from 9-11am. Registration is required to attend.

On 17 and 18 November 2023, the first transnational conference ‘Creating Glocal Perspectives – Global Citizenship Education for a Transformed Future’, organised by the University of Klagenfurt, will take place online. Professor Tarozzi will participate as a speaker in the panel discussion ‘Different Perspectives of Global Citizenship Education’.

Applications are now open for the Intensive Course on Global Citizenship Education to be held in Tunis from 13 to 18 November. The course is organised by the Italian Foundation for Higher Education in Africa (IHEA) in collaboration with the UNESCO Office for the Maghreb in Tunis and the UNESCO Chair in ECG.

Registration closes on 30 October.

On Wednesday 08/11/2023 at 16.45 in the Sala Stabat Mater of the Archiginnasio Library there will be a seminar promoted by the Departments EDU and FILCOM of the University of Bologna on the topic of complexity applied to educational contexts and the visions of the future that the new generations can aspire to. The event is free of charge.
